Scholarships
The main objective of the association was to provide educational facilities to Indian women. Scholarships were awarded to deserving women to motivate them to take up higher education and research. Annual scholarships are awarded to meritorious and deserving women students from various City colleges .
University Women’s Association, Madras in association with Dr. MGR Janaki College for Women, Chennai, organized the Women’s day Celebrations on 8 March 2022 at Dr MGR Janaki College for Women. Dr. Latha Rajendran, President, University Women’s Association, Madras welcomed the gathering.
Workshop
Dr. Mgr institute of special education and research in association with university women’s association of Madras conducted a workshop titled Neuro Linguistic Programming for the Prospective Teachers on 27th and 28th December 2016.
ABOUT US
Who We Are
First established in 1922 as the Madras women graduates union, it jointed the federation of university women in India along with groups in Calcutta and kodaikanal. However, as there were not many activities carried out and world war ll engaged the university women’s attention in other fields ,the federations growth was retarded .

Uwa Women’s Hostel
The hostel has been functioning well. At the moment there are 30 girls occupying the hostel.
Skill Building Nurses
On 21st January 2016 UWA Madras joined with MOHAN Foundation and TRANSTAN to organize an organ donation awareness and grief counseling talk for the students of School Of Nursing.
Women’s Day Celebrations
Three different activities were organized in the month of March 2016 to celebrate Women’s Day.1. March 10 - International Women’s day was celebrated jointly with Woman’s Voluntary Services.
